The BC Cancer Foundation and Workout to Conquer Cancer are proud to present the inaugural Mylestone Award to Team Miles for Myles, the inspiring force behind this honour.
Now in their fifth year of participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer, this incredible team has raised vital funds to fuel innovative cancer research and bring hope to the thousands of families across B.C. facing cancer.
In their first four years, Team Miles for Myles has raised an astounding total of $600,000 — and they’re not stopping there.
Launching in 2025, the Mylestone Award celebrates impact, courage and legacy.
Created in memory of 15-year-old Myles Lindsay, the award honours the extraordinary difference he and his family have made in advancing cancer research and care through their dedication to Workout to Conquer Cancer and other fundraising efforts.
Each year, the Mylestone Award will be presented to a participant or team whose passion and perseverance embodies the spirit of the May-long Workout to Conquer Cancer challenge.
In 2021, Myles Lindsay was diagnosed with Stage 4 diffused gastric carcinoma — a stomach cancer rarely found in young people — at just 13 years old.
Following his diagnosis, his family formed Team Miles for Myles, raising a remarkable $92,000 in their first year participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer.
Determined to do more, Myles set a $100,000 fundraising goal for 2022. By the end of the month-long challenge — and on the morning of his tumour and stomach removal surgery — his family was thrilled to tell him they had surpassed the goal and raised $225,000.
Although the surgery went well, 15-year-old Myles passed away on June 1, 2022 — just one day after the completion of that year’s Workout to Conquer Cancer challenge.
Today, his family continues to participate, keeping Myles’ memory alive and raising funds to help other families facing cancer.
