About Workout to Conquer Cancer

Workout to Conquer Cancer, is a call to connect, fundraise and move for each other, and everyone facing cancer.

This inclusive event began in 2017, and all funds raised through this May-long challenge go to world-leading innovation in research and care at BC Cancer.

This challenge is a reminder that, together, we are stronger than cancer.

We move for the people who cannot. We move for every survivor who now feels strong.

It starts with you, with all of us.

About the BC Cancer Foundation

The BC Cancer Foundation is the fundraising partner of the BC Cancer. As the largest philanthropic funder of cancer research and care in the province, our donors fuel hope for the 80,000 British Columbians facing cancer per year.

Every single dollar raised stays right here in British Columbia to fuel life-saving research and enhancements to our world-class treatment centres. This helps accelerate access for all British Columbians to cutting-edge cancer care close to home.

The BC Cancer Foundation is currently raising funds for Beyond Belief, the most ambitious and comprehensive health campaign ever in the province. Your support ensures that life beyond cancer is within reach.

Together, we will go beyond belief.

Workout to Conquer Cancer Impacts

To date, our highly motivating community of Workout to Conquer Cancer participants have sweat their way towards raising over $5.4 million for the BC Cancer Foundation.

These funds have fuelled groundbreaking innovation in research and care at BC Cancer, including advancing lung cancer and immunotherapy research and care, and personalized genomics treatments for various forms of cancer.

Here are some impact highlights:

  • BC Cancer launched Canada’s first provincial lung cancer screening program in 2022.
  • BC Cancer scientists developed a new breath test for early lung cancer detection, harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
  • A cutting-edge CAR-T cell therapy clinical trial is underway, focused on immunotherapy treatment for blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma.
  • Genomic analysis is resulting in more personalized and effective treatments for people facing breast, lung, pancreatic, and head and neck cancers throughout the province.

When you move with us each May, you’re not only reducing your own risk for cancer but you’re also helping us build a future free from the threat of cancer.

Susan Richardson

“Workout to Conquer is a way to keep [my nephew] Myles close, to make him proud, to make his terrible journey with cancer not be completely in vain. It’s a way to honour and cherish all of our memories of Myles and get out there and do something to make a difference for other families.”
