About the Cause

Workout to Conquer Cancer, is a call to connect, fundraise and move for each other, and everyone facing cancer.

We move for the people who cannot. We move for every survivor who now feels strong. We move because together, that movement can take us beyond limits, beyond belief.

Each May, we move for 30 minutes each day to inspire everyone to make an impact. All funds raised through the Workout to Conquer Cancer challenge go to world-leading innovation in cancer research and care through the BC Cancer Foundation.

It starts with you, with all of us.

Ambassador Profile

At the age of 11, Jessica Cheng’s life changed when her mother Sabrina was diagnosed with breast cancer.

After a series of grueling treatments, Sabrina’s prognosis was positive with no evidence of disease. Fifteen years later, Sabrina’s cancer returned.

However, with the support of BC Cancer experts, Sabrina underwent surgery and her cancer was successfully removed. She was also able to avoid chemotherapy and radiation, which meant she was able to get back to enjoying her retirement and staying active.

Both Jessica and Sabrina participated in last year’s Workout to Conquer Cancer and are passionate about the power of movement and giving back.

#WhyIWorkout

"I work in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, so fitness was always a part of my lifestyle. Life has changed for me, as I now undergo chemotherapy treatments, so keeping up my workouts on a daily basis helps me keep strong and cope with the side effects from my treatments, but also keeps me focused in a positive way on beating this disease."

- June Sayer

"Having battled testicular cancer twice, maintaining my health — not just physical, but mental — is of great importance. Workout to Conquer Cancer is a great reminder to move and motivate others to do the same."

- Chris Ho

"My superhero team at BC Cancer are the BIG reason why I am here today, and will always be the biggest reason why I will always return so that they can continue to do the magical work they do every day."

- Rosalyn Salanguit
