Employee Giving Guide

Maximize your fundraising success by tapping into your resources at work. If your employer offers an employee giving program, this is a wonderful opportunity to amplify both your individual and your company’s contributions toward making a powerful impact.

Check for an Employee Giving Program

  • Ask your Human Resources (HR) Department: Connect with a member of the HR department to find out if there is a program in place.

  • Review Emails or Newsletters: Many companies announce workplace giving programs through emails, newsletters or employee bulletins.

  • Visit the Company Intranet: Some organizations post details about giving programs on their intranet or internal website, where employees can find information about how to contribute.

  • Check with Us: We may have information about your employer’s giving program. Connect with your contact or reach us at workout@bccancer.bc.ca.

Explore Your Giving Options

  • Charitable Contribution Eligibility: Start by reviewing the details of your company’s workplace giving program to confirm that it supports your efforts.

  • Matching Gifts: Check if your company matches employee donations, which can double the impact of your contribution.

  • Corporate Gifts: Check if your company will make a donation to support you or your team and help you meet your fundraising goals.

  • Volunteer/Participation Hours: Some companies offer charitable donations for the number of volunteer/participation hours you contribute. Make sure to check how to track and report volunteer hours if this option is available.

Showcase Your Participation

  • Employee Giving Platforms: Does your company use a platform like Benevity? Use it to highlight your participation by creating a giving opportunity or highlight to encourage your colleagues and company to support you. For help on setting this up, download the Benevity sample below.
  • Intranet/Newsletter: Explore opportunities to showcase Workout to Conquer Cancer and your fundraising efforts to your wider organization — this could encourage others to donate to your fundraiser or join you in participating.
