MYLES LINDSAY FAMILY
Workout to Conquer Cancer 2025
Held by Myles Lindsay Family
47 supporters
This May, our family will participate in our 5th year of Workout to Conquer Cancer.
Thanks to incredible support, we've raised an astonishing $600,000 over the past four years. This year, we initially set an ambitious goal of $80,000, but in true Myles' spirit, we've raised the bar even higher to $150,000! Myles always had a way of inspiring us to push our limits and we know he would be cheering us on as we strive for this new milestone. Let's honour his memory and unwavering spirit by coming together to achieve this goal. Every contribution, regardless of its size, makes a significant impact. Myles demonstrated perseverance, and together, we can show that we won't back down.
Myles was diagnosed with Diffuse Infiltrating Gastric Carcinoma in March 2021 and passed away on June 1, 2022 at just 15 years of age.
For two years he endured the unimaginable. It started with vomiting several times a day for months and loosing 20lbs before being diagnosed. Once he was diagnosed, he went through surgeries, chemo, radiation and so much more. Through all of this he stayed positive, kept his sense of humour and soldiered on without complaint. We were always in awe of Myles' strength and how courageously he fought cancer.
We miss Myles every minute of every day. One way to remember him is to help raise funds for pediatric oncology research and treatments. For the month of May, we will be working out and fundraising to honour him.
The Miles for Myles campaign raises funds for one of the BC Cancer Foundation's key priorities - pediatric cancer research led by Dr. Poul Sorensen and his colleagues at BC Cancer.
Dr. Sorensen's lab is currently focused on two urgent priorities within childhood cancer research:
- Targeting high-risk pediatric cancers with new immunotherapy approaches.
- Understanding and targeting stress adaptive pathways in high-risk pediatric cancers, and how these pathways lead to aggressive metastatic disease.
What is so exciting about both these research streams is that they could lead to available treatment for pediatric cancer patients in as little as one to one and a half years! This is significant because, up until now, children have had very little access to immunotherapy and have had no treatment for aggressive metastatic disease.
