Workout to Conquer Cancer 2025

Cancer changed the course of my life-first through loss, then through purpose, and most recently, through personal survival.
In 2013, I lost a close friend and mentor, Stan Mollett, to cancer. Stan wasn't just a colleague - he was a confidant, a guide, and a one-of-a-kind human being who made a lasting impact on everyone he met. Following that loss, I took part in my first Ride to Conquer Cancer in June 2014, which put the wheels in motion for an incredible 11-year journey - one that would go on to raise more than $350,000.
In 2023, I was personally diagnosed with cancer. Thanks to early detection and the incredible care provided by the BC Cancer Agency, I underwent successful surgery and am well on my way to full health. But my cancer journey isn't over; I continue with regular tests and follow-ups, and I carry a deep sense of gratitude for the medical teams who continue to support me.
Late last year, the BC Cancer Foundation announced the cancellation of the Ride. For me, it was an incredibly disappointing moment. It wasn't just a cycling event; it was a symbol of hope, unity, and the power of people coming together to fight back.
That's why I'm not ready to stop. The cause is too important. Dedicated to everyone we've lost and to everyone still fighting, I'm taking part in the Workout to Conquer Cancer, the BC Cancer Foundations month-long fundraiser that challenges participants to exercise for 30 minutes every day throughout May.
