Hi everyone,
Thank you for supporting me in the hardest battle I have ever faced. During the past 4 and half years, I've undergone 2 brain surgeries, 30 days of radiation, many months of recovery, and a variety of other challenges, leaving me thinking I would no longer be around to write this.
This brain tumor has brought on so much change in my life, but having continued support from my loving friends and family has allowed me to enjoy whatever remaining time I have left.
Back in 2018, Margaret participated in the Tour de Cure (BC Ride to Conquer Cancer). I was proud of her and donated to the cause, but I didn't think too much of it at the time. It wasn't until I began daily radiation treatments at BC Cancer in 2021 that I looked back on that donation and realized how important it was.
Unfortunately, the BC Cancer Tour de Cure is no longer happening due to many difficulties in coordinating the ride. Therefore, team Gear up for Gilly has looked elsewhere to try and raise funds for the ongoing research we need to fight our fight with cancer. We have decided to take part in the BC Cancer Workout to Conquer Cancer. This is a month-long commitment to staying active at least 30 minutes per day through the month of May. In all honesty, it'll be a win-win for everyone.
I am continuously grateful for the access to care through BC Cancer, and it means a lot to me that I'm able to fundraise for this cause. Thank you to everyone who donated in the past years, and thanks again for supporting me and the many others who are fighting their own battles.
