For the past two years I participated in the annual BC Tour de Cure (BC Ride to Conquer Cancer), a 200km bike ride from Cloverdale to Hope BC, as a part of team Gear up for Gilly. With support from our community our small but mighty team raised over $60,000 towards life-saving cancer research and care at BC Cancer.

With Tour de Cure coming to a close in 2024, we were looking for ways to keep our fundraising efforts alive. The workout to conquer cancer is a commitment to work out every single day for the month of May in an effort to raise funds for BC Cancer.

For me, this means that in addition to my usual kickboxing, I am committing to running 50km and cycling 100km over the course of the month.

This challenge is more than exercise, it's about coming together to make an impact for the 80,000 British Columbians facing cancer each year. Cancer among young people is on the rise and witnessing Guillaume's battle with brain cancer has brought so many challenges. It has also shown me that life is short, and precious, and beautiful all at once.

Guillaume was asked to give a speech at the opening ceremonies for the 2024 BC Ride to Conquer Cancer. He continues to inspire me with his resilience.

My wish is that no person, young or old, has to deal with a life limiting illness.

As I get ready to sweat my way through May (and beyond), I would love your support!

With love, smiles, and lots of tears along the way,

Margaret xo
