BlueskyOriginally inspired by Terry Fox when I was a child, I worked hard to train in both medicine and science, to become a cancer researcher and sarcoma pathologist. I am privileged to have been entrusted by governmental and charitable funding agencies in Canada and the USA to study the biology of sarcomas and how to translate this into improved care for the people (often young, like Josh) affected by this group of cancers. My work has led to improved, faster diagnostics for several types of sarcoma, including desmoplastic round cell tumor and synovial sarcoma, as well as to new treatments for tenosynovial giant cell tumor and epithelioid sarcoma. Some of you may know I dealt with some personal tragedies in 2024, but a couple of good things that happened were my induction into the Royal Society of Canada, and more importantly getting to meet Josh Lombardi, his family and friends. I pledge to you that with any funds we raise together, I will do my utmost to figure out ways to help people with desmoplastic round cell tumor and related sarcomas of adolescents and young adults.
