My current stage of treatment ends in May, so I'm participating in BC Cancer Foundation's Workout to Conquer Cancer. I'm doing this to help with my recovery; to express my deep gratitude to BC Cancer, and - most importantly - to celebrate "my village" - all of you who have helped get me through this...by nourishing me, helping me when I fall (literally or figuratively), taking me to appointments, helping me move, offering encouraging words, extra lifting and understanding.
I'm joining others across the province to move, no matter where we are or how we feel, every single day of there month.
One in two British Columbians are impacted by cancer.
So, as I get ready move my way through May, please consider joining me by making a contribution. Every dollar counts and no amount is too small. I will match team or peraonal donations up to a total of $2,500.
And, as a personal reminder, PLEASE get your regular screening but that isn't enough. If anything is off, no matter how small the likelihood is, please get or checked out, even though you have many priorities. For me, time was of the essence even though it seemed very unlikely to be serious. I was able to get to diagnosis and treatment quickly even without a family doctor and even though the chance of cancer (at any stage, much less advanced) initially seemed slight.
