FOR MYLES WITH LOVE
Workout to Conquer Cancer 2024
Held by The Richardsons
62 supporters
Here we go, year 4! This May, we are again participating in the Workout to Conquer Cancer to get moving and support BC Cancer patients in honour of our hero, Myles Lindsay! Myles is our nephew and cousin (one of 16 Lindsay cousins). He was diagnosed in March 2021 with Diffuse Infiltrating Gastric Carcinoma and passed away on June 1, 2022.
We are in awe of how he faced the disease with resilience and good humour. And we are forever, irrevocably changed by his loss.
It is everything for us to be able to honour him in any way we can and raise funds for oncology research and treatments. We also, as does everyone, have other family members and friends touched by cancer. And we are working out and fundraising in their honour as well.
This is what each of us is committing to do :
Riley: One hour run, hike or strength training every day. Plus 100 pushups, squats & situps every day. Cold Plunge Challenge.
Jordanna: Run 20K per week + yoga 3 times per week. Cold Plunge Challenge.
Abby: F45 4 times per week, plus a run every day. Cold Plunge Challenge.
Nicky: Exercising every day ( gym or run or Grouse Grind). Cold Plunge Challenge.
Jenna: Daily exercise of min 45 mins. Cold Plunge Challenge.
Jesse: 45 mins of working out daily. Triathalon on May 12
Maddy: 12K steps daily + a 30-minute workout every day (running, pilates or strength training). Cold Plunge Challenge.

Noel: 1 hour of hiking, mountain biking, yoga or spinning every day for Myles! Plus F45 2 times per week. Cold Plunge Challenge
On May 4, many will participate in the 3rd Annual Buckets for Myles Basketball Tourney at Rockridge Secondary. Everyone is welcome to come and cheer the players on. 11:00-2pm, 5350 Headland Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7W 3H2.
Additionally, F45 Ambleside Beach is holding a fundraiser for Miles for Myles on Saturday, May 11, 8:30am-11am. To learn more and register: F45 Ambleside Workout to Conquer Cancer | BC Cancer Foundation
So, as we get ready to sweat our way through May, please show your support by donating today in honour of Myles and for the kids and adults you know and love who have battled or are currently in Cancer treatment. Every dollar counts, and a minimum of $10's receives a tax receipt.
Team Miles for Myles is raising funds this year for one of the BC Cancer Foundation's key priorities, pediatric cancer research led by Dr. Poul Sorensen and his colleagues at BC Cancer.
Dr. Sorensens lab is currently focused on two urgent priorities within childhood cancer research:
- Targeting high-risk pediatric cancers with new immunotherapy approaches.
- Understanding and targeting stress adaptive pathways in high-risk pediatric cancers, and how these pathways lead to aggressive metastatic disease.
What is very exciting about both these research streams is that they could lead to available treatment for pediatric cancer patients in as little as one to one and half years! This is significant because up until now children have had very little access to immunotherapy and have had no treatment for aggressive metastatic disease.
The goal for Miles for Myles this year is to raise $179,219! This will bring the four-year total to $600,000. Team Miles for Myles has had amazing support over the past three years which has allowed Myles family and friends to accomplish so much, but kids facing cancer need more. Myles would expect us to not give up.
Thank you so much for your support. Lots of love, The Richardsons
