Some of you may know over 4 years ago I lost my uncle, Avtar Dutt, to this stupid disease that killed over 84,000 Canadians last year alone. 2 in 5 Canadians will develop cancer in their lifetime. I made a commitment of running 150km in 2021 to raise money and awareness of this stupid disease that kills hundreds of thousands of people every year. I shattered the 150km and ran 10km everyday with a total of 310km.
For the 4th year in a row Ill be running for Workout to Conquer Cancer to raise money for the B.C. Cancer foundation. It was a tough last year with my hernia surgery and I havent been running much since. I was debating on doing this again this year but this picture in my garage always motivates me. My Mamaji (uncle) Avtar Dutt was a huge impact in my life and for all of us in our family so I decided to do it again for him and others, that I havent forgotten, who have passed from this disease. Ill be running a minimum of 100km this month but Im trying to run 5km everyday. My goal is to raise $3000 this year and Ive raised over $15000 the past 3 years with the help of others. Please help support this cause as 1 in 2 British Columbian residents have been affected by this disease and roughly 86,700 people died in Canada last year.
