Hello family and friends,
As all of you know, we lost Warren, my beloved "grampy" last summer. Just weeks earlier I lost a very young friend, Christie Paisley, both to cancer.
As some of you may know, my co-worker and good friend, Laura Allen, was diagnosed with cervical cancer on Boxing Day 2021. She has spent the last two months undergoing a grueling regimen of chemo and radiation. It has gone well but she is far from being out of the woods.
Laura is a hilarious, unceasingly kind, optimistic person who took her diagnosis and said - what can I do with this that will make a positive impact on other people's lives? And then she rallied her community together and now we all have to (get to!) exercise...
I will be participating in the BC Cancer Foundation's "Workout to Conquer Cancer" fundraiser for the month of May. Despite my love of tv and not doing things, every day I am going to do at least 30 minutes of one of the following activities:
jumping to conclusions;
raising my eyebrows;
The fundraiser is inspired by research that says that patients who commit to 30 minutes of exercise a day have increased odds of survival, as well as fewer side effects from their treatment. Laura has of course done her research and has been trying to exercise as much as possible (and she generally succeeds at anything she puts her mind to). If Laura can do it, so can our team!
We have all lost someone. We all know someone who is fighting. Please help me fundraise for this very worthy cause.
Lots of love,
