This May I'm participating in Workout to Conquer Cancer to get moving and support BC Cancer patients! I'm joining others across the province to exercise for 30 minutes every day for the month of May. Hope this includes dog walks!
One in two British Columbians are impacted by cancer. This is not just a number, it is our family, our friends, those we love. As a chemo nurse at Kelowna Cancer Centre for 24 years I have been privileged to care for and share the cancer journey with many special patients and their families. I have shared in their saddness and celebrations, and have witnessed incredible love and committment and strength. Like most of us, I have also experienced a cancer diagnosis within my own family and friends, a reminder to stay grounded about what is really important in life. Cancer treatment is changing so quickly now, where once there was only one treatment option, there is now two or three different treatments to help patients live better and longer. This challenge is more than exercise, it's about joining a community who know that together we can make an impact for those we love and have loved.
So, as I get ready to excercise my way through May, without missing a day, (those who know me well know I would rather be reading a book and drinking tea) - please show your support by making a donation today.
Thanks and stay healthy!
