This May, our team is participating in the Workout to Conquer Cancer, presented by Scotiabank. Our team is joining others across the province and beyond to move, no matter where we are, every single day of the month to raise money for cancer research.
One in two British Columbians are impacted by cancer, that's why we've committed to moving and raising funds for patients, survivors, and researchers pushing life-saving innovation forward. This challenge is more than exercise, it's about joining a community that knows that we can go beyond limits to make an impact for those we love and have loved.
Whether we run, walk, stretch, or squat, every move we make and dollar we raise will specifically support theBC Cancer Vancouver Supportive Care clinic. This new clinic is located two blocks away from the Vancouver BC Cancer centre. It will enhance patient support by providing evidence-based care in a more therapeutic setting. The pyschosocial services provided at this clinic include patient and family counseling, psychiatry, vocational counseling, and spiritual care, which were formerly located inside BC Cancer. This new space will allow medical teams, patients and loved ones to work together to receive tailored care, whether that's one-to-one counseling, participation in a group, or some form of virtual care that people with cancer can participate in from home. It is hoped that the Vancouver Supportive Care Centre will serve as a model for other centres around the province.
