FOR MYLES WITH LOVE
Held by The Richardson Family
Here we go, year 3! This May, we are again participating in the Workout to Conquer Cancer to get moving and support BC Cancer patients in honour of our hero Myles Lindsay! Myles is our nephew and cousin (one of 16 Lindsay cousins). He was diagnosed in March 2021 with Diffuse Infiltrating Gastric Carcinoma and passed away on June 1, 2022.
To say the treatments he endured were challenging is an understatement. Surgeries, chemo, radiation, scans, scans and more scans, puking as the norm a couple of times a day... all this and more Myles endured with a smile. He was such a trooper. We are in awe of how he faced the disease with resilience and good humour. And we are forever, irrevocably changed by his loss.
It is everything for us to be able to honour him in any way we can and raise funds for oncology research and treatments. We also, as does everyone, have other family members and friends touched by cancer. And we are working out and fundraising in their honour as well.
This is what each of us is committing to do:
Riley: 400,000 steps in May, plus exercising every day. Cold Plunge Challenge.
Jordanna: 400,000 steps in May, plus exercising every day.
Abby: Pilates and/or running every day. Vancouver Half Marathon on May 6. Cold Plunge Challenge.
Jake: 5kms run every day all month long. Cold Plunge Challenge.
Nicky: Exercising every day ( gym or run or Grouse Grind). Cold Plunge Challenge.
Jenna: Vancouver Marathon on May 6. Daily exercise of min 45 mins. Cold Plunge Challenge.
Jesse: 45 mins of working out daily. Cold Plunge Challenge.
Maddy: Vancouver Half Marathon on May 6, and 10K steps daily until the end of May. Cold Plunge Challenge.
Sue: Minimum 45 mins of riding, hiking, running, F45 or yoga. Cold Plunge Challenge (yup, you heard it here, now I have to do it, only for you Myles!).
Noel: 1 hour of hiking, mountain biking, yoga or spinning every day for Myles! Cold Plunge Challenge
So, as we get ready to sweat our way through May, please show your support by donating today in honour of Myles and for the kids and adults you know and love who have battled or are currently in Cancer treatment. Every $ counts and a minimum of $10's receive a tax receipt.
Team Miles for Myles is raising funds for one of the BC Cancer Foundations' key research priorities, genomics and specifically PROFYLE (Precision Oncology for Young People) program, the young adult arm of the Personalized Onco-Genomics (PG) program.
Thank you so much for your support. Lots of love, The Richardsons
